Sustainable energy projects planned in riga port territory

Project 1

LLC "TES Kundziņsala" - Sustainable Energy Development Project in the Riga Port Territory. The company plans to implement a biomass cogeneration plant project in the Kundziņsala territory:

  1. Construction of a woodchip cogeneration plant with connection to JSC "Rīgas siltums" main heating networks;
  2. Local heating networks;
  3.  Direct electrical connection.

The planned investment volume for the woodchip cogeneration plant development project is EUR 27.5 million. The woodchip cogeneration plant project aims to participate in the long-term development of new port territories by initiating renewable energy production and its integration into the existing port infrastructure.

The planned cogeneration plant capacity is 25 MW heat and 6 MW electricity. The produced heat is planned to be sold to JSC "Rīgas siltums" by creating a connection to the existing main networks, as well as building an internal heating pipeline that could provide heat to existing businesses in Kundziņsala. Electricity is planned to be supplied to the public power grid. Part of the produced electricity and heat will be used by the cogeneration plant for self-consumption and will supply LLC "TES Kundziņsala" planned projects at Uriekstes Street 30, as a universal cargo berth, bulk cargo(pellet) warehouse, and LNG storage complex.
